-- With the full moon, the leading mare of the mystical breed of Orb Trotters decided to go on a hunt. With a soft nicker she hopped the fence, leaving behind two fellow hunters to grass in their pastures, not wanting to deal with her masculine stupidity. As she trotted the fields, she slowly found herself heading for a neighboring barn that had two Orb Trotters, one being a yearling colt who looked a lot like her favorite stallion at her barn, just less stupid! With a soft snorted nicker, she called to the colt, curious to see if he was outside. When she heard a sharp, high pitched response, she shook her head, nickering softly to persuade the fast approach colt to come with her. With a little hesitation, the colt decided to break the rules and hopped the fence, wanting to partake of the invite of the strongest horse in the local herd.
-- With the two out of their pens, they trotted the fields, seeing what might be available to hunt. While the elder horse saw a lot, she was unsure of what would be good for the young colt. While she was in no need of souls, she knew the colt did before he reached 10 years old. She really liked this colt since he respected her and didn't want him being beaten up. As she trotted along, she was surprised when the younger male stopped in his tracks, staring across the meadow had two brownish spots. Rabbits! The mare nickered lightly, as if asking if that's what the boy wanted this evening. When he pranced and reared, she knew there would be no persuading him out of the toughest chase of his life. One so young going something so fast! She had high hopes for this colt.
-- Finally the mare circled a bit around the colt, keeping him subdued as she nickered the plan. When she was sure he understood and would stick to the plan, she let him go first, knowing her combined fish souls would boost her speed to no only catch up but cut off the rabbit. With moments they were both immersed in the chase. They chased one rabbit down at a time, making sure the colt could kill the rabbit and take the soul. Once his soul was obtained, they went after the final rabbit, allowing the mare her prize for the night.
-- Who knew chasing simple prey would be so fun? Maybe the mare should sneak the colt out more often? Yes... Yes she will have to. The colt was just too adorable to leave all alone in a pasture.
